I feel like finding a skincare routine that works for your skin is like finding the right hairdresser. It takes time! But, by golly, when you find her, you’re in love. And I am in love with my current skincare routine. I cannot wait to share this with you!
I must preface, I am in no way as skin care expert, nor am I suggesting you must buy these products– I am simply sharing my experience with each of these products, how they work for me, and why I love them so much. Every person’s skin type is different, and I am not writing this as your expert 🙂
I realize this is a long winded post, but I hope you can appreciate the time I took to layout what I do, as skincare is something that is very important to me! I also know that some of these products are considered to be splurge items, or at least they are for me. Therefore, I included some more affordable options under the product description so you have options to fit your budget! I want you all to have the most information that I could provide to help give you the best knowledge for you if you’re in need of a new routine or want to add a few steps or new products in!
Every morning, this skincare routine takes me about 5 minutes. The items are listed in order of how I use and apply them.
Cleanser. I use two interchangeably throughout the week. I mainly use Drunk Elephant’s Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser. I use this exfoliating cleanser 3-4 times per week, Botanic Tree Glycolic Acid Exfoliating Cleanser. Both of these cleansers are amazing! I love that the ingredients on both of these are free of unnatural fragrances.
Toner. I personally like Thayer’s Witch Hazel Alcohol Free Toner -Rose Petal (link) this one because it’s affordable and does the job well. It also meets the needs of mostly everyone’s skin type. It’s alcohol free so it doesn’t completely dry out the skin. It removes impurities, while tightening skin and minimizing pores but also leaves skin feeling hydrated.
Serums. After toner, while skin is still damp, I apply Drunk Elephant’s C-Firma Day Serum in conjunction with Drunk Elephant’s B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum. These two products make my skin feel soo soo good! I’ve read that these two products compliment each other when applied together. The C-Firma has a ton of antioxidants that works to give firm the skin, and leave you with a brighter and even looking complexion. B-Hydra hydrates your skin improving complexion and texture.
More Affordable Options here: Maelove Glow Maker in place of C-Firma and Physician’s Formula Skin booster Vitamin Shot in place of B-Hydra Serum.
Eye Cream. Next, I apply Drunk Elephant’s C-Tango Multivitamin Eye Cream. It’s full of peptides that brighten around the eye area, and help the skin to look more firm. I love this stuff! It also has great reviews. This is my go to currently, but I am always open to trying new options when it comes to eye cream. The two listed below are also favorites of mine.
More affordable options: First Aid Beauty 5 in 1 Eye Cream Age Delay and OLEHENRIKSEN Banana Bright Eye Creme
Moisturizer. I am obsessed with Drunk Elephant’s Protein Polypeptide Cream. It feels like soufflé on my face! I have made this an essential part of my skincare routine in the winters as it helps keep my skin hydrated. It also helps improve skin tone, texture, and firmness.
More affordable option: D’ABLA piedmont Peptide No-Sebum Repair Cream
SPF. Do NOT leave out this step. It’s so important! Replenix Antioxident Sunscreen Moisturizer SPF 50+ I have used this sunscreen moisturizer for three years now, and it is hands down my favorite. I love that it has SPF 50 to protect my skin from harmful rays. I envision that it’s preserving my youth 🙂 It’s an added bonus that this moisturizer has a very slight tint to it that is nice for days where I don’t wear any make up. It’s so subtle, but just gives me that nice glow. This is so worth the buy, because it lasts a long time. I’ve had my same bottle for 4+ month now.
Optional. These two steps I’ve included at the bottom because they are optional, but are what I use every morning to wake my face up! I use the Rose Quartz Facial Roller upon waking. It brings life to my face, but also calms and soothes. It is like a facial massage that relaxes my jaw line and muscles in my face. Do you ever make big facial expressions in the mirror to wake yourself up in the morning, or maybe sometimes pat the cheeks for a refresh? That’s what this feel like! I love it! Next, I apply a small amount of Dr. Brandt’s Needles No More Baggage eye de-puffing gel. I don’t apply this every single morning, but the mornings where I feel a bit more puffy than usual, this is my best friend. It instantly wakes up my eye area making me look awake and refreshed.
Removing impurities and makeup. I use Micellar water to remove all of makeup. It’s gentle on the face, especially the eye area.
PreCleanse. I love Dermologica PreCleanse. This is a step is a preference. If you’re budgeting out what is completely necessary and what can you can hold off on, I will tell you that this step is not completely necessary if you feel like your makeup is coming off with just the Micellar water. It is able to get through to the sunscreen, moisturizer, and oils from the day as well as remove any excess makeup. It feels so silky smooth on my skin that I can’t help but incorporate this into my nightly routine. Avoid the contact with your eyelashes if you have eyelash extensions.
Cleanser and then Toner. I use the same cleanser and toner I describe above in my PM routine.
Serum. Skinceuticals Resveratrol B E. This nighttime antioxidant helps prevent collagen breakdown, protects against oxidative stress, and helps to preserve your skins youth. It’s pretty great. I love it. It is a bit on the pricey side, but it lasts a while. I’ve had the same bottle for 3 months now.
Moisturizer. Next, I apply my skin soufflé, Protein Polypeptide Cream by Drunk Elephant (same product I apply in the AM).
Facial Oil. I consider this a holy grail. Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil I love this stuff! My skin feels so hydrated and loved after applying. It’s packed full of antioxidants and omegas (6 and 9). It helps to nourish and balance the skin while preserving a youthful glow (literally reading this from the bottle, because they could not have said it better).
More affordable option: The Ordinary Cold -pressed virgin marula oil
Lips. Hands down, Laneige lip sleeping mask is AMAZING. I love it. I use it every night, and even during the day. It’s extremely nourishing and hydrating! This is a must have especially during the winter months.
And that’s it! I know I should be using some type of night eye cream, but I haven’t found one I like yet! Any suggestions for a night eye cream? Drop them below in the comments box, and I’d love to try them out!
