Jungle Safari Themed Baby Room

This was our first born’s nursery. He is now in a different room that has yet to be decorated. But, I had to share because I put a lot of work into this project, and hopefully it inspires you!

Coming up with a theme was easy for me. I wanted something that looked earthy– think greens, browns, tans, etc. I am drawn to greens and more natural palettes. Jungle animals seems like the perfect fit to allow me to work nature into the room. I also wanted to incorporate whimsical features that reflected a baby boy room. Therefore, a safari jungle theme was the optimal choice!

I would consider this a gender neutral room. Once my husband and I found out we were having a boy, I looked for ways to incorporate some blue into the room.

We painted the room a soft white. I found the blackout curtains at JCPenney’s. Backout curtains were our preference to help with sleep times. I love the color choice we went with! It is the perfect color green for a jungle theme.

The white book shelves are from Ikea. They were fairly easy to put up. Now, we can display all of the books we got from our family and friend’s at the baby shower.

I found these animal prints on Etsy, and had them printed at a local print shop. The frames are from Michael’s. They were originally black, but I painted them for a more natural look. I found a tan color spray paint at Walmart, and sprayed two coats to the frames.

The dresser/ changing table is an antique from my mom. I sanded it down and painted it a beautiful forest green. I am obsessed with the color! I replaced the old knobs with these from Amazon.

The crib is the Hudson 3-in-1 convertible crib from Babyletto. I went with white to keep a neutral palette.

I added plants to bring some life into the space. Are you surprised? ๐Ÿ™‚ I removed Bird of Paradise plant from the room before our little man was even rolling over (so donโ€™t DM me about them being toxic to babies lol).

I found the lamp and side table at Target. The rattan front on the tableโ€™s drawer adds a nice touch to our jungle vibe. This is a similar one linked here. I like how the lamp added some soft masculinity to the space with a soft light blue on the base. The rope stools are from Etsy, but you can also buy them at a few places. Ikea has them for a great buy!

We bought the glider from Buy Buy Baby. I picked it out in the store, and chose the color based on a color swatch. However, once I put it in the room, I was not thrilled with the comfort, nor the color.

This room was truly a labor of love that I worked on throughout the 10 months that our first born grew in my womb. It was such a joy to get to do this for him.

Thank you for letting me take you through the design process. Questions or comments? Drop them below!

xoxo,

Em

      Hi there,

Congratulations on your baby boy’s upcoming arrival! And Thank you so much! I got the curtains from JC Penney’s in sage green. The rug is from RUGS USA.com. and the pillow is no longer available. However, I just did a google search of safari pillows and there are some really cute alternatives to the one I have.
